2002 Ho'ike

This year's competition was an interesting one. In all, there were supposed to be eleven competing halaus (schools). Many halaus dropped out. In the end, only four halaus were left leaving many of the categories with only one or two competitors.

Normally, when there is less than three competitors, the entire division is cancelled. Fortunately, the head coordinators decided to leave the competition as is. If they did not do what they did then there would only be four divisions competing.

At the end of the competition, the Ho'olaulea began. It means "celebration" and it basically was just that. Halaus performed dances from Hawaii and Tahiti. It was lots of fun (^_-).
