Isitolo and Evelyn Oloa - HALE'IWA BRANCH
Owners / Lead Instructors


Isitolo and Evelyn Oloa founded Kalena's Polynesian 'Ohana in 1986. Evelyn Oloa began training at a young age specializing in Hula in her hometown of Waialua, HI. Isitolo Oloa, originally from Western Samoa, also learned how to dance at a very young age specializing in the Samoan Fire Knife Dance.

Combined, Isitolo and Evelyn Oloa have danced throughout the country of North America. They have experience in the World Cultures and Dances ranging from the cultures of Polynesia (Tahiti, Hawaii, Samoa, New Zealand, Cook Island, Tonga, Fiji) to the cultures of the Phillippinnes, Japan, Thailand, Korea, the Middle East and America.


Isitolo and Evelyn is currently heading over both brances of their growing halau in Orlando, FL and Hale'iwa, HI.



Charlene Oloa - ORLANDO BRANCH

Charlene is the eldest child of Evelyn and Isitolo Oloa and has been dancing since the age of 3 when she began to learn dance from her mother and father in Waialua. After the move to Pittsburgh, she became a cast member for 6 years in the seasonal, "Hawaii in Pittsburgh" held at Conley's Inn Dinner Theatre.

She has competed throughout the United States and has won first place in Tahitian dance and drumming in Florida, California and Kaua'i. She is now in charge of the Orlando branch and continues to share the Beauty of Polynesia..a love that her parents began and instilled in her.


Salamasina Oloa - HALE'IWA BRANCH

Salamasina is the second child of Evelyn and Isitolo Oloa and has been dancing since the age of 3. She has been a cast member for 8 years of the seasonal "Hawaii in Pittsburgh" and has won several first place awards in Tahitian, Hula, poi, drumming and costume design--her new passion.

She is currently a cast member at the Polynesian Cultural center and performs in the "Pageant of the Canoes" and the newly formed theatrical revue "Ha: The Breath of Life" where she also plays the lead role of "Mama." She is also the lead instructor for KPO Hawaii and is a coordinator for Hula supplies and crafts. She is reknown for her award-winning costume designs.


Mikaele Oloa -HALE'IWA BRANCH
Lead Instructor / Lead Musician / Mauga Mu Co-Founder


Mikaele is the third child of Evelyn and Isitolo Oloa. He has begun dancing at a young age and is most known for his accomplishement of becoming the 2005 and 2006 World Fire Knife Dance Champion in Laie, HI. At the age of 15, he was and is still the youngest competitor to have ever won the title and has capabilities of dancing with up to four fire knives! This is an ability he has picked up at the age of 5 when he began training with his father, another competitive fire knife dancer. He has also been a cast member of the seasonal "Hawaii in Pittsburgh".

He has performed throughout the world ranging from North America--coast to coast, Samoa and Japan. His breath-taking and show-stopping gifts as a Samoan Fire Knife Dancer has won him awards and legendary recognition throughout the world. Not only is he an award-winning Samoan Fire Knife Dancer, but he has also won many awards in Tahitian dance and drum. He is a lead instructor in KPO Hale'iwa and is the co-founder of the Samoan Fire Knife Dance club: Mauga Mu, where he trains young girls and boys in the art of the dance. He has started to begin his own line of products adorned with his very hand-painted designs of the Samoan tatau. More details of that line to come soon!



Natalie-Rose "Nanz" Oloa - HALE'IWA BRANCH
Assistant Instructor / Lead Dancer


Natalie is the youngest of the Oloa children and has already shown leadership skills and talent at her young age. She has begun dancing at the age of 3 and hasn't stopped since. Natalie has won awards in Tahitian dance in Florida and Hawaii and will debut her Fire Knife Abilities in May 2011 as a competitor in the World Fire Knife Dance Championship.

Natalie is a lead dancer and is also a student of Tahitian drumming and fire knife dancing. She is also an alaka'i for Kalena's Polynesian 'Ohana
